Application: Partial Discharge Monitoring
A Partial Discharge (PD) is a small electrical spark that occurs within the electric insulation of switchgears, transformers, and windings in large motors and generators. Partial Discharge Analysis is a proactive diagnostic approach that uses PD measurements to evaluate the integrity of this equipment. PD results are used to reliably predict which electrical equipment is in need of maintenance.
In the past, offline PD measurement techniques have been widely used to detect potential future failures. However, offline techniques are time consuming and require network outages, which present an operational risk. Online measurement techniques present no such issues, and they provide a continuous monitoring capability. The online monitoring techniques that are now available have the potential to offer easy, cost-effective solutions and, most importantly, to detect the onset of incipient failures on cables/transformers/switchgears with a previously good reliability record.
ADLINK Solution: PCI/PXI-9820: 2-CH 65 MS/s 14-Bit Digitizers with up to 512 MB SDRAM
ADLINK's PCI/PXI-9820 is a 65 MS/s, high-resolution digitizer with deep on-board memory. The device features flexible input configurations, including programmable input ranges, and deep on-board memory for massive data storage. The PCI/PXI-9820 is also capable of synchronizing multiple modules, to make it easy to add more AI channels in an online partial discharge monitoring system
