ADLINK Technology, a global leader in edge computing, announces its latest MECS-7210 Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) server and joint promotion with Gemtek, one of ADLINK’s solution partners and a leading provider of wireless communication technologies, at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2020, Hall 5, Booth 5I26, from Feb 24 to 27 in Barcelona, Spain.
At the booth, Gemtek will showcase its advanced small cell system based on ADLINK’s MECS-7210 that offers an ideal, compact solution to build private LTE/5G networks and edge analytics platforms. An alternative to Wi-Fi, private LTE/5G uses a range of spectrums including Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) to provide dedicated, highly reliable and secure networks for enterprises. Combining the expertise from the two industry-leading companies and leveraging the low latency and high throughput advantages of 5G technologies, Gemtek’s integrated solution can help enterprises build cost-effective, flexible and large-scale wireless LAN, and enable a wealth of business-critical applications in various industries including manufacturing, mining, energy, oil and gas, warehousing and distribution. Featuring easy installation, management and maintenance, the solution can be deployed in the field rapidly with optimized OPEX while enabling enterprises to harness the power of IoT, edge computing and AI technologies. In one use case, Gemtek has been working with a customer to build a 5G CBRS wireless LAN and intelligent edge analytics solution in a large manufacturing facility to provide real-time monitoring, increase production capacity and implement predictive maintenance driven by AI and machine learning.
ADLINK is committed to developing industry-leading edge computing platforms to help customers accelerate the transformation of communications network architectures in the era of 5G. Powered by advanced dual Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors, and designed to meet the requirements of ultra-low latency, high bandwidth, and real-time access to radio network, ADLINK’s MECS-7210 is among the first platforms to fully comply with the Open Telecom IT Infrastructure (OTII) defined by the Open Data Center Committee (ODCC). With a 420mm system depth in a small footprint 2U chassis, all I/O front access, wide operating temperature support (-5°C to +55°C), and dual full-height full-length (FHFL) PCIe expansion slots reserved for access to acceleration hardware such as GPU, FPGA and QAT adapters, the MECS-7210 is a high performance, cost-effective commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) platform that can meet varying application and deployment requirements, and enable customers to focus on differentiating their end solutions.
“The ADLINK MECS-7210 Edge Server equipped with a powerful Intel processor provides a clear and achievable evolution path from 4G Virtual Evolved Packet Core (vEPC) to 5G Core network (5GC). We are excited to be cooperating with ADLINK and Intel to create 5G compact core network solutions for our private network customers,” said Fred Yeh, CTO of Gemtek.
“By taking into account the requirements of our customers, ADLINK’s MECS-7210 edge server is specifically designed to enable customers to explore new business models and service opportunities through a vast array of applications, such as autonomous vehicles, connected cars, augmented and virtual reality, smart cities and smart manufacturing. These new offerings ensure that operators will be able to realize the digital transformation from pipeline builders to ecosystem builders” said Julian Ye, ADLINK director of networking and communications. “Joining our lineup of media cloud servers and AI training platforms, the MECS-7210 is an important addition to ADLINK’s AiMEC product family. Along with other family members, the new edge server provides our customers with superior flexibility, interoperability and optimization, allowing them to develop applications with widely varying requirements. With our deep expertise in AI, IoT, edge computing and open system architecture, ADLINK will continue to deliver innovative, application-ready platforms driving computing power and processing intelligence at the edge that facilitate the ongoing network transformation.”
