Application: Multimedia device testing
As HDTV becomes more popular in home entertainment systems, the demand for full HD 1080p video content has also increased, such as in medical imaging and multimedia devices.
Multimedia devices such as set-top boxes, Blu-ray Disc players, and gaming consoles can convert SD (standard definition) and HD (high definition) video source data into digital full HD 1080p content for HDTV output. Since these devices, however, utilize considerable electronic and signal processing components, consistent quality in manufacturing requires automated testing to acquire raw pixel image for analysis and measurement to assess video quality. The MTBF or long period test is also necessary to ensure the quality. These tests, though, need an automatic system that can not only monitor multiple multimedia devices simultaneously but are also capable of receiving a wide variety of video and audio signals. With high integration, one ADLINK PCIe-HDV62A unit can support most multimedia device outputs, and, combined with a KVM or video signal switch, can form the center of a powerful and cost effective system.
