Vortex Enables TechOcean's Internet of Robots Prototyping Modules
Vortex, based on the Data Distribution Service (DDS) standard, provides platform and programming language independent real-time communications between modules
Our award-winning Vortex intelligent data sharing platform has been selected by TechOcean for its Internet of Robots modules, a system that will accelerate prototyping and implementation of robotics and automation applications.
Currently in robotic systems one of the main inhibitors to rapid prototyping is the lack of standardized interfaces between components. This means that integration of a system’s components is often a significant and costly task. Integration of different types of components also demands that a user has specialist (expanded) knowledge and experience in electronics, software and communications technologies.
Polish based startup, TechOcean, an automation and robotics specialist focusing on the Internet of Things (IoT) for Robotics is now addressing this market need. Its goal is to allow robotic systems to be built more quickly, easily and efficiently.
TechOcean's Internet of Robots is a new distributed system of modules which accelerate the prototyping and implementation of robotics and automation applications. Internet of Robots modules control the internet, electronics, software and hardware of a robot. They allow the sending of data, engine control, management of environmental data and the ability to actually see what your robot sees. Typical users of the Internet of Robots are professional robotics and automation solutions integrators, robotics labs in academic institutions and robotics enthusiasts.
A key requirement for the Internet of Robots is that communication between the modules is fast, reliable, real-time and will not be limited to one programming language, operating system or specific hardware. After a market assessment of best of breed communication technologies, TechOcean chose Vortex for this task. Vortex enables real-time data sharing for devices and machines based on the Object Management Group's (OMG) Data Distribution Service (DDS) for Real-Time Systems (DDS) standard. Vortex includes DDS implementations that can be used to support a range of device technologies, operating systems and programming languages required by a project. It is a key enabler for systems that have to reliably and securely deliver high volumes of real-time data with stringent end-to-end qualities of service.
"Thanks to a wide range of Vortex tools we will have the possibility to give our users the best cross platform communication experience," said Wiktor Krzeszewski, Co-Founder of TechOcean. "For us as a company the usage of Vortex DDS will benefit us by boosting product development and reduce time to market for our solutions.“
As a startup TechOcean were able to benefit from the Vortex Innovator Program (VIP) designed to provide our latest technologies to startup IoT and very small companies on a cost effective basis.
