ADLINK Technology, a global provider of leading edge computing solutions that drive data-to-decision applications across industries, today announced the availability of the Spectra™ CX4 Software Defined Radio (SDR) Software Communications Architecture (SCA) 4.1 Modeling Tool. The Spectra CX4 Model Driven Development (MDD) tool helps to greatly simplify, accelerate, and validate a significant proportion of the SDR SCA 4.1 development process.
The SCA is an open architecture framework that defines a standard way for radios to instantiate, configure, and manage waveform applications running on their platform. The SCA separates waveform software from the underlying hardware platform, facilitating waveform software portability and re-use to avoid costs of redeveloping waveforms. The latest SCA 4.1 version of the specification provides significant improvements over the earlier SCA v2.2.2 including increased performance / portability, reduced development costs and backwards compatibility.
ADLINK’s new Spectra CX4 modeling tool validates SCA 4.1 compliance at the architectural level and generates correct-by-construction SCA compliant artifacts, such as: XML descriptor files and C++ source code. Spectra CX enables SCA 4.1 and non-SCA software aspects to be developed together, integrated early, and thoroughly tested. Spectra CX4 also reduces development risk due to its consistent model-based approach.
Together the above benefits result in faster time-to-market, lower costs, better software quality, and superior compliance for all SCA 4.1 waveform and platform code developed with Spectra CX4.
Users of the tool can:
- Model with Spectra CX4 - benefiting from complete SCA 4.1 system modeling components, applications, nodes platforms, deployments
- Validate with Spectra CX4 - de-risking projects by validating early on, and throughout the development cycle
- Generate with Spectra CX4 - accelerating and de-risking SCA development by generating correct-by-construction SCA artifacts
- Develop with Spectra CX4 - designing and developing SCA 4.1 component behavioral code using MDD
"Spectra CX4 provides an ideal base for users either seeking to implement the new SCA 4.1 standard or migrate from the older SCA 2.2.2 version," said Steve Cammish, SVP Software Engineering, ADLINK Technology.
Spectra CX4 is part of ADLINK’s Spectra product suite, the most complete family of SDR products and technologies designed to support SCA development. Spectra also includes: Spectra DTP a wideband, high performance, baseband and RF SDR Development and Test platform; Spectra CF a high performance, ultra low footprint, COTS SCA Core Framework; Spectra CDB a fully integrated and optimized SDR middleware stack running across a wide range of FPGA, DSP and GPP elements; Spectra Radio Services and Devices a series of standard SCA compliant components that implement the API's published by the Joint Tactical Networking Center (JTNC).
