To encourage the use of electric scooters to help improve air quality and gradually eliminate fossil fuel use within the next 10 years, Taipei City Government plans to set up hundreds of battery exchange stations which will accommodate thousands of electric scooters.
The Electric Vehicle Battery Exchange System classifies batteries as Waiting to Charge, Charging, and Charged. Users simply pay with a debit card, enter instructions on a computer screen, and insert a depleted lithium battery in exchange for a charged one. The entire process takes only a few minutes as opposed to the hours spent waiting for a battery to charge.
