ADLINK Technology, a leading global provider of cloud-based services, intelligent gateways, and embedded building blocks for edge devices that enable the Internet of Things (IoT), today announced the cExpress-BW COM Express® Basic Size Type 6 module and AmITX-BW-I Mini-ITX motherboard based on the latest Intel® Pentium® and Celeron® Processors N3000 (codenamed Braswell). With twice the graphics performance and simplified integration when compared to the previous generation, these boards offer a low thermal solution ideal for industrial automation, medical (e.g., lab equipment, bedside patient infotainment) and retail (e.g., digital signage, POS, vending machine) applications.
"The ADLINK cExpress-BW offers rich graphics support and power consumption control with 4k/2k display panel support, and the AmITX-BW-I offers a unique low profile design," said Henk van Bremen, director of ADLINK's Module Computing Product Segment. "With both solutions, end customers will experience lower power consumption with better overall performance, compared to previous generations."
"Our latest Intel Celeron® and Intel Pentium® processors drive new compact, mobile and often fanless Internet of Things (IoT) designs, while reducing BOM costs," said Jonathan J Luse, Intel Senior Product Line director. "The latest generations optimize components and board space with a single cooling solution, support multiple operating systems, and offer a low thermal envelope."
The ADLINK cExpress-BW provides two DDI channels (with up to 4K resolution) and one LVDS or DDI3 channel supporting three independent displays, enabling it to drive multiple HD screens without the need for a discrete graphics card. In addition, Embedded DisplayPort (eDP) is optionally available to support next generation displays. The cExpress-BW also offers optional on-board SSD support and up to five PCI Express lanes x1. A wide range of operating systems are supported, including Linux, Windows 7 and 8.1u, Windows Embedded Standard 7, Windows Embedded Industry 8.1 and VxWorks.
ADLINK's AmITX-BW-I Mini-ITX motherboard with integrated Intel® Gen 8 LP HD Graphics 2SS/16EU DX11.1 supports H.264, MPEG2, VC1, VP8, H.265, MPEG4 hardware decode, with media acceleration for AVC L5.1, SVC 4K, VP8 4K, and JPEG formats. The Thin Mini-ITX board features a low profile design, low power consumption (4W-6W) and non-ECC type DDR3L dual-channel 1333/1600 MHz memory up to 8GB. The AmITX-BW-I supports up to three independent displays, including HDMI, Dual Display Port, dual-channel 18/24-bit LVDS and optional Embedded DisplayPort (eDP) output, and offers rich I/O such as 2x GbE, 4x USB 3.0 (rear I/O), internal USB 2.0 header, 2x SATA 6 Gb/s ports, 1x PCIe, Mini-PCIe/USB, mSATA/USB and 6x Serial ports (2x RS-232/422/485, 4x RS-232). The motherboard's unique specifications also include a socketed Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) BIOS chip with SPI header supporting an SPI module, latchable connectors and Trusted Platform Module (TPM) header for optional TPM module.
The cExpress-BW and AmITX-BW-I are equipped with ADLINK's Smart Embedded Management Agent (SEMA) to provide access to detailed system activities at the device level, including temperature, voltage, power consumption and other key information, and allow operators to identify inefficiencies and malfunctions in real-time, thus preventing failures and minimizing downtime. ADLINK's SEMA-equipped devices connect seamlessly to our SEMA Cloud solution to enable remote monitoring, autonomous status analysis, custom data collection, and initiation of appropriate actions. All collected data, including sensor measurements and management commands, are available from any place, at any time via encrypted data connection.
