An Intel® Core™ i7 Processor from Intel's Embedded Roadmap and a matching Mobile Intel QM57 Express Chipset powers this high-performance single board computer. The processor supports Hyper Threading and features integrated graphics. The chipset not only handles DisplayPort and LVDS interfaces but also frequently use standard interfaces.

Processor and chipset are both mounted on the PCB's bottom side and can be attached to a suitable cooling solution with a heat spreader. This arrangement allows mounting of EPIC Express peripheral cards on the top and gives mechanical stability. In fact, it is robust enough to conform to the stringent VITA47-2005 V3 and OS2 requirements.

The Hurricane-QM57 supports up to 4 GB soldered down DDR3 ECC memory, which can be expanded using a newly developed rugged SODIMM memory module (RSOMM) to a total of 8 GB.

The embedded PC board is specified for the industrial temperature range of -20?C to +60?C, and optionally available for the extended temperature range -40?C to +85?C.

Time-to-Market (TTM) and Total-Costs-of-Ownership (TCO) are key aspects to producing competitive products. To combine TTM and TCO in a reliable manner, a solid and reliable platform is fundamental. To assist in this endeavor, every new ADLINK computer-on-module (COM) and single board computer (SBCs) is equipped with a Board Management Controller (BMC) device supporting SEMA.

Initially designed for power sequencing tasks, the BMC has evolved to include many new and useful features through the years. Measuring the supply current to get a snapshot of the system??s power consumption is only one of the new capabilities. Being compatible with the latest Embedded Application Programming Interface specification (EAPI) reduces your effort to port existing calls to SEMA to nearly zero!

Interfacing the hardware to the operating system is one of SEMA's most important functions. The BMC first collects all relevant information from the chipset and other sources. Using the System Management Bus driver, the application layer fetches the data and presents it to the user.
